Operates and maintains the Plating Analysis Lab to meet regulatory requirements and company objectives. Performs assigned role in the Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with 32-01-01.
Plating Lab Specialist – 1st Shift
Duties and responsibilities
- Possess a basic understanding of ISO 14001.
- Calibrates instruments, including pH probes, flow meters and temperature sensors.
- Performs analysis of plating chemical testing, UV Mini, pH measurement, indicator test strips, and other techniques to include all plating lab equipment.
- Adjusts process parameters based on these tests to achieve Somic Americas quality goals and objectives.
- Possess an in depth knowledge of the plating process, analysis methodology, hazardous chemical handling, disposal procedures, and regulations.
- Responsible for SST reports.
- Coordinates cleanup activities in the event of a chemical leak or spill.
- Coordinates plating bath changes with the waste water technician.
- Maintains chemical storage room and plating lab inventory for plating operation.
- Suggests and helps implement process and procedural improvements.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and safe work environment and achieves 5S objectives for plating area.
Qualifications
- All job vacancies will be posted for three (3) full days, excluding Saturdays, Sunday and holidays. A concurrent external search may also be conducted.
- The job will be awarded based upon present ATTENDANCE, JOB PERFORMANCE, Qualifications and Skills, all things being equal – length of service will be taken into consideration.
- Eligibility includes remaining in a previously awarded position (excluding shift transfer) for 6 months.
- Team members with less than 6 months of service may be considered if there are no eligible applicants with more than one year of service.
- A Team Member who has received any disciplinary action (warnings, etc) within (12) weeks from the posting will not be considered for the job.
- The team member awarded the job will be transferred as a rule, within thirty (30) days pending training of replacement personnel and be given a trial period of up to 60 days. If the individual does not qualify by the end of this period, the employee will be reassigned to an available job.
