Join our team in Brewer, Maine as a Second Shift Operator

We are currently seeking a Second Shift Material Flow Operator (3 pm to 11 pm) or our Brewer, Maine manufacturing plant. The Material Flow Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, damage-free, and accurate handling of supplies and materials within the facility.

Summary

The ideal candidate for this position should be capable of standing, walking, using hands for handling and manipulating objects, reaching, and communicating effectively. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling may be required.

The selected candidate must possess the willingness and ability to train others in fork truck operations, product identification, and locating materials in the manufacturing and shipping areas. The ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include supplying materials to production lines, delivering raw forgings to machining lines, providing plated housings to assembly lines, and operating Tug and forklift equipment for material movement.

In addition to material handling duties, the employee may be assigned equipment operation tasks as needed. It is essential to strictly adhere to safety precautions at all times, including paying close attention to fellow employees in the aisles, consistently sounding the horn throughout the facility, and actively identifying safety concerns during travel within the plant.

Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a repetitive, fast-paced environment.
  • Punctuality and commitment to arriving at work daily and on time.
  • Strong visual acuity, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, is also necessary.
  • Prior experience as a Fork Truck Operator.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance guidelines, and procedures in English.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting information to colleagues in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Problem-solving abilities involving standardized situations with several concrete variables.
