By incorporating activities like potluck lunches, BBQs, and company-wide events, team members have the opportunity to connect with colleagues they see daily as well as get to know faces outside of their departments.
These moments of camaraderie and leisure are crucial, reinforcing our values of teamwork and mutual respect, while also driving home the idea that creativity and progress flourish in a joyful, united environment.
Community First
Somic America prides itself on being a community leader in the Greater Bangor area, not just through business but by wholeheartedly engaging with and supporting the local community. Our Somic Cares program collaborates with nonprofits to make meaningful contributions, while our sponsorships of beloved local events, including the Festival of Lights, YMCA Gala, and Jingle Bell Ball illustrate our commitment to community well-being and spirit.

Somic In the Community
As part of our ‘Somic Cares’ initiative, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine recently toured our manufacturing plant. During their visit, they made a special presentation to our team, where we provided funds to our staff so they could donate. We also had team members volunteer as guest chefs at the Bangor House, enhancing our community connection.
Engaging the next generation, Somic hosted the 7th Up Program, where local 7th graders from Bangor and Brewer experienced an interactive tour of our facility. This initiative, supported by the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce, exposes students to the world of automotive manufacturing, fostering early interest in industry careers.

Somic was thrilled to sponsor the photo booth at the 4th Annual Jingle Bell Ball, organized by Bangor Firefighters to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Our involvement in this December event underscores our commitment to supporting vital community causes and building stronger local ties.
